This Privacy Policy explains how MirrorCast TV ("MirrorCast", "the app", "we") handles information when you use the app. We do not require an account to use MirrorCast, and we do not sell your data.
Information We Collect
- Screen and audio mirroring: when you start mirroring, the app captures your screen and app audio and streams it directly to the TV you selected, over your local Wi-Fi network. This stream is never uploaded to our servers or any third party — we don't operate servers that see your mirrored content at all, and nothing is recorded or stored.
- Local network access: the app scans your local Wi-Fi network (via Bonjour/mDNS and SSDP/UPnP) to find compatible TVs and Chromecast devices. This information is used only to show you a list of devices to cast to, and never leaves your network.
- Photos and videos casting: if you use the Cast Photos or Cast Videos features, the app accesses your Photos library (with your permission) so you can pick a photo or video to display on the connected TV. The selected file is served directly to your TV over your local Wi-Fi network, the same way screen mirroring works — it is never uploaded to our servers.
- Subscriptions and purchases: premium subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store, and subscription status is managed for us by RevenueCat, Inc. RevenueCat receives an anonymous device identifier to know which purchases belong to which installation — see RevenueCat's own privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy for details. We don't receive or store your payment details ourselves.
- Promo codes: if you redeem a promotional code to unlock premium features, the app checks the code against our Firebase database. No personal information is collected as part of this process — only whether the specific code you entered is valid.
- Crash and usage reporting: the app uses Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics (Google) to send us anonymous crash reports and basic usage statistics (e.g. which screens are used, how often mirroring succeeds) — this helps us find and fix bugs and improve the app. This is off by default and only sends data if you turn it on yourself in Settings > Share crash & usage data. This data is not linked to your identity and is never sold. See Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy for details on how Firebase processes this data.
Third-Party Services
MirrorCast TV uses the following third-party services:
What We Don't Do
We don't show ads, use advertising trackers, or require account creation.
Your Choices
You can disable Local Network or Photos access at any time in your device Settings. You can turn crash & usage reporting on or off at any time from the app's Settings screen.
Data Deletion
MirrorCast doesn't store your mirrored content, photos, or videos on any server, so there is nothing to delete beyond what's already on your device. Uninstalling the app removes any locally stored preferences (such as a redeemed promo code flag).
Children's Privacy
This app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, note it in the app.
